Prescription Policy
Wexford Health Solutions does not guarantee that a prescription will be issued. All prescribing decisions are made by the clinician based on medical appropriateness, available documentation, safety, and applicable laws.
General Prescribing Expectations
- Prescriptions require an active clinician-patient relationship.
- Medication changes may require a scheduled appointment.
- Follow-up appointments should be booked in advance to avoid interruption.
- Patients are responsible for providing accurate pharmacy information.
Controlled Substances
Controlled substance prescribing is subject to clinical review, state law, pharmacy discretion, and federal telehealth requirements. The practice may request records, testing, or follow-up before prescribing or continuing certain medications.
Refills
Refills are not guaranteed outside of appointments. Patients should plan ahead and schedule follow-up appointments before medication is due.
Pharmacy Issues
Patients are encouraged to confirm that their chosen pharmacy is willing and able to fill telehealth prescriptions before booking or requesting a prescription transfer.
Pain Medication
As a general policy, Wexford Health Solutions does not prescribe opioid medications for pain management except in rare circumstances.
